Description[]
The user rapidly barrages their opponent with rapid-fire punches from their leading fist, lifting it higher with each series of blows. Afterwards, they then usually strike the victim away with either a launching strike or a forward straight punch.
Strategy[]
As it is an auto-hitting attack, only one hit is needed for the entire move to connect. The user continues to attack even if the move initially misses, so the timing for using it as an anti-air is not strict. However, it has a long recovery period, leaving a large window of vulnerability if it fails in hitting.
The version has anywhere juggle, meaning it can combo even after air resets.

Trivia[]
- Yuri Sakazaki is the only Kyokugenryu practitioner who does not have a variation of this attack in her arsenal of moves.
- Dan Hibiki's parody version, Danretsuken, does not autohit, and instead is a punch barrage. However, it is more comboable and extendable than the Zanretsuken with juggles and followups.
- In Takuma's version in '98, it uses the classical hit sound used since 94 and 95. However, in subsequent versions, it uses the standard hitting sound effects in its respective games.
- In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Mii Brawler one of three neutral specials Mii Brawler can use is Flashing Mach Punch AKA Glinting Mach Punch, which is inspired by Zanretsuken.
- Ryo's Spirit Battle appropriately features a Mii Brawler with Flashing Mach Punch as the puppet fighter, furthering the connection.
