Description[]
Goenitz summons a thin-yet-sky-reaching tornado that emerges from the ground with his lifting fingers - the version being the closest to Goenitz, and the
version being the furthest.
Strategy[]
Yonokaze is hands down one of Goenitz's powerful tools. It can come out in a set area, cannot be rolled through and can negate all projectiles. Since the and
versions of Yonokaze can be summoned near Goenitz, rushing in headfirst towards him or just even approaching him increases the chance of getting hit.
In KOF '96, SVC Chaos & Boss Challenge mode of KOF XV, the AI LOVES using this move. It is possible if the AI goes into a loop and does it repeatedly, the player cannot approach him in any way whatsoever due to the move's fast recovery. As such, Goenitz can potentially chip the player to death via a blockstun infinite.
While this move isn't quite as broken as before in KOF XV, it is actually stronger than you'd think, as it quickly spawns a stationary tornado at one of four locations relative to Goenitz, with the versions spawning in between each of the four locations. This move can be oppressively difficult to get around if used properly. Each tornado acts as a wall that can be spawned to shut down almost any approach. There are a few catches, however; the blind spots mentioned above, and the fact that, if the opponent gets past the tornado, Goenitz is wide open. It also doesn't build very much meter, and can't combo into anything. This is, as its core, a harassment tool. However, with proper positioning and skill at placing the right tornado at the right time, Goenitz can become nigh-impossible to approach.
The version, while effective enough as a zoning tool, it truly shines in combos. It's one of his go-to combo extenders, and can add a little extra damage after a knockdown thanks to its newly OTG attributes.

Trivia[]
- Should the move be written in kanji, it would be (
夜 の風 ). - Yonokaze is often called "Koko desu ka" (ここですか?; How about here?), due to Goenitz saying it every time the move is used.
