Have any fighters piqued your interest?
- "There is a tinge of sadness in Dolores's eyes. Much like in mine long ago..."
Are you ready for the tournament?
- "I am. And Mamahaha here is even feistier than usual."
What would you do with the prize money?
- "I'd treat the team to a celebratory meal, then donate the rest to a nature conservation fund."
Anything to say to your fans?
- "Mother Nature blesses us with her gifts. Please repay her with kindness."
Darli Dagger[]
What do you do on your days off?
- "I've been checking out the ports here. They're using iron to make ships!"
Why did you join this tournament?
- "Nakoruru over there told me she'd buy us some grub and booze if we won."
Have any fighters piqued your interest?
- "Piqued my interest? Hmm. That girl with the spray, I guess. She doesn't consider losing an option at all. I like that."
Are you ready for the tournament?
- "Absolutely! I'm ready for anything. Hope everyone else is ready for a wave of pain!"
What would you do with the prize money?
- "I'd buy some gifts for everyone back on the island."
Anything to say to your fans?
- "No waves are too rough for this shipwright! Things I won't abandon: my ship, my crew, and my fans!"
Season 2[]
Shingo Yabuki[]
Congrats on joining the tournament!
- ""Thank you so much! All that training is paying off!"
What did the people around you think when you received your invitation?
How are the injuries from past tournaments? They heal up alright?
- "Yep! I got a couple scars here and there but I’m in tip-top shape!"
Tons of people are saying you look great in your jersey.
- "THANK YOU! I’m a big fan of it myself! Even designed the back part too, heh. I bought a bunch in different colors because they don’t even last a month under Mr. Saisyu’s training!"
By the way, you able to produce flames yet?
- "Ah, I really feel like I’m SO CLOSE, but everyone says otherwise..."
Since we’re on the topic of producing things, Shingo, you’re able to sometimes gain a CRITICAL HIT from your special attacks. Can you tell us why this happens?
- "Sure! One out of about a hundred hits, I’m able to channel my inner core for a powerful attack. My thinking is that I’ll be on Mr. Kyo’s level if I’m able to do it each time!"
Is there anyone you’d like to team up with this tournament?
- "Why, Mr. Kyo of course! I want to show him just how strong I’ve become since, well, he’s the one who got me to where I am today!"
Who do you want to take on the most this tournament?
- "Well, I’d also say Mr. Kyo! Training and fighting are two different things, and it’s rare that I get to fight him at all!"
You seem to have a close relationship with each member of Team Sacred Treasures. Can you tell us about your ties to them?
- "Mr. Kyo and I are master and apprentice! Mr. Yagami is... a little scary, but if he were to confront Mr. Kyo, then he’d have to go through me first! Ms. Chizuru is very lady-like, you know? She is very different compared to my sisters..."
It seems you were taught by Saisyu Kusanagi, Kyo's father. What kind of training were you put through?
- "They have me just practicing basic movements over and over again! I'm still told that my movements are too stiff..."
Is there any difference in training between Kyo and Saisyu Kusanagi? "Mr. Saisyu gives me advice on how to improve my moves and techniques. On the other hand, Mr. Kyo shows me what those moves look like when perfected!"
What's a technique of Kyo Kusanagi's that you would like to master first?
- "I think my first priority is to be able to perform Aragami perfectly, so that one I think!"
What do you admire most about Kyo Kusanagi?
- "Hmm... His strength! I mean, of course that, but I also think it's really cool that he's always so confident."
It seems that Kyo Kusanagi has a lot of fans. How does this feel with you being his number 1 student and all?
- "I'm glad they feel the same way as I do! I wish I could shake hands with all of them!"
Is there anyone else besides Kyo Kusanagi that you admire?
- "Ummm... Mr. Nikaido is cool from a man's point of view, and Mr. Daimon's strength is also quite admirable... Ah, once I get going it’s hard to stop!
What made you want to get stronger, anyway?" Partly because I admired Mr. Kyo, but also because the more and more I trained, I wanted to acquire the strength to protect the people I love! ...That sounds really corny."
Do you have any anecdotes or secrets about Kusanagi?
- "Between you and me, Mr. Kyo calls Yuki quite often. It seems he can't help but want to hear her voice. Again, this is off the record! (Sorry Yabuki, this was too good to pass up!)"
What do you think you would have done if you had not met Kyo Kusanagi?
- "Hmmm... This is tough! I’ve been up to my eyeballs with things to do since I met Mr. Kyo, so it’s hard to think what it would be like if things were different..."
We hope that one day you’ll become a fighter who can match and even surpass Kyo Kusanagi.
- "An apprentice must eventually surpass his master! I still have a long, long way to go, but one day I will surely surpass Mr. Kyo!"
K' and Maxima used to also team up. What do you think about them?
- "K' is so fit and cool, isn't he? I wonder if I’d look good in sunglasses too. Maxima is so smart he makes me jealous! But yeah, I think they’re both really nice people."
Which players do you get along with?
- "I've been on a lot of teams in the past, but I feel like I was placed there each time... Mr. Nikaido takes care of me a lot, and Mr. Daimon sometimes takes me to practice too!"
Who are the scariest opponent you’ve fought yet?
- "The three people who quickly come to mind most are Yamazaki, Yagami and Nanakase... They have this presence which is overwhelming."
What are your goals for the future?
- "I will keep striving to get on Mr. Kyo’s level! Also, I'm always looking for team members to work with."
Can you tell us what’s written in your notebook?
- "Mostly advice given to me in training! I also write some of the names I come up with for my special moves... Heh."
Do you have a daily routine that you do without fail?
- "Apart from my training, I run every day! It's refreshing to pack a bag full of water bottles and run mindlessly."
What’s something you’re hooked on right now?
- "There’s this yokai encyclopedia that I just can’t seem to put down lately!
What do you usually do when you are at home?
- "I sometimes write in my notebook about what I picked up during training, while other times I sit and meditate on what it’d be like to produce flames. I have this hunch that they won’t be red!"
Is there a job you would like to do when you grow up?
- "Well eventually I’d like to be a successor to the Kusanagi Style of Martial Arts... But that’s just a silly dream of mine!"
Tell us about the first time you participated in KOF.
- "At that time, I was quite happy because I felt that I got one step closer to Mr. Kyo."
We received so many questions this time. Do you have anything that you would like to share with your fans who have been waiting for you?
- "I'm so impressed that I have so many fans out there! Sorry I can't answer everyone’s questions. I, Shingo Yabuki, Mr. Kyo's number one disciple, will do my best, so please support me!"
Kim Kaphwan[]
Congrats on joining the tournament!
- "Thank you. This is the new me; I’m hoping to give it my all."
It seems you’ve had a change of wardrobe this time around.
- "That’s right. It’s something my master sent me. He said it’d help me make a fresh start."
Why did you decide to go solo for this tournament?
- "I just wanted to get away from my—uh, I mean, find a way for my master’s wonderful teachings, and my new skills, to be put to the test!"
Let’s talk about your friendly rival Jhun Hoon. Did he say anything about you entering?
- He was incredibly supportive. Cried tears of joy and said he was glad I’d survived my training in the mountains.
What exactly were you up to this whole time, since the end of the last tournament?
- "Experiencing hell on—uh, I mean, having a hell of a good time training with my master in the mountains. Yes sir, what an experience."
Any key takeaways from that training?
- "I did a lot of introspection, perhaps to a fault. Now I’m ready to try out a host of new things—and new moves as well."
Did those new moves turn out well? How did they even come about?
- "Depends on how they hold up in a real fight. We’ll see. As for how they came about... Trying to land a blow or two on my master (as he rolls boulders down toward me) certainly played a part..."
What are your thoughts about your master, by the way? Aside from all the training?
- "He’s someone you can respect, that’s for sure. We don’t always see eye to eye, though..."
Speaking of relationships, how have Chang and Choi been since the last tournament?
Does that mean starting the Rehabilitation Project again from scratch?
- "It does, yes. I’m of the opinion that every heart drawn to darkness needs to be rekindled. I should’ve been setting a good example for them, but now I see that I had my own shortcomings too. Being with my master again taught me that."
You previously teamed with Raiden and Hwa Jai. What became of them after that tournament?
- "Both of them completed their rehabilitation without issue. Raiden went maskless and now stands for justice whenever he steps into the squared circle. As for Hwa, I hear he became Joe’s second as a first step towards returning to competitive form."
That brings me to our next question. What exactly is “justice” to you?
- "Justice? It’s having strong conviction and a resilient heart that never succumbs to evil. That’s what led me to taekwondo, for example. I wanted to be stronger both mentally and physically."
I see. And what’s “evil,” then?
- "Nothing but a source of entrapment that leads you down the wrong path in life. It’s easier to fall into when you’re in a bad place inside. That’s why, in my view, we need to learn to be strong of heart—to prevent that from happening."
It must be a long and arduous journey, promoting justice to the masses. What keeps you motivated in your pursuit of that ideal?
- "The realization that this is my true calling in life. It’s what makes me who I am. If you’re ever lacking motivation, the first step is self-affirmation. Try starting from there."
Imagine teaming with any of the fighters in this tournament. Who makes the cut?
- "That’s a tough one. Everybody already has such a great team of their own; there’s really not much room for me anywhere. Shingo got a special invite like me, so he’d be a fun choice—plus he’s just an all-around good kid. Anyone else as true to themselves as he is would be my other pick."
How about rivals? Who would you like to square off against?
- "Terry and his teammates for one. In the sense that I’d love to show them what I picked up during my training. In terms of a fight that needs to happen? Geese’s team."
If you were to pick a disciple, who would it be?
- "Ah. Geese Howard."
Who’s been your best teammate so far?
- "Well, I do have fond memories of fighting alongside my disciples. Chang, Choi, May Lee... Terry and Duck King were also a breath of fresh air, though. No rehabilitation to think about that time around. Plus we had fun celebrating after, if memory serves me right."
Any views on the King of Dinosaurs?
- Hmm... I’m sure he feels he’s doing the right thing. But I much prefer him on the side of justice. I’d want to train with him that way.
How do you spend days off with your family?
- "Usually karaoke with my wife, or eating out with her and the kids. Recently it’s been training 24/7; I definitely would like to devote more time to them all once the tournament’s over."
Has the thought of teaming with your children ever crossed your mind?
- "Oh, yes. It might be just about time for them to make an appearance, in fact."
Do you still keep in touch with Hon-Fu?
- "I do. He’s a very dear friend of mine. It’s a shame we haven’t truly had the chance to meet recently. I suppose he’s just busy..."
What, if anything, do people tell you about your ancestors?
- "Not a lot in great detail, though I do hear that they too were unforgiving of evil in all its forms. Apparently some were a little confrontational in general as well."
We received a ton of questions for you this time around. Is there anything you want to say to your fans, who’ve been waiting for you so long?
- "I’m delighted to hear so many of you took the time to write in and ask about me. As always I’ll stay true to what I believe in, and fight in a way I can be proud of. Watch out, because here I come!"
Sylvie Paula Paula[]
Congrats on joining the tournament!
- "Hehehe, thanks! You guys and gals are the best!"
Your new outfit’s getting a lot of love, just like the previous one.
- "I know, right?! I guess great minds think alike. I can’t get enough of it either!"
Who’s your designer?
- "C’est moi! Both outfits designed, supervised, and manufactured by yours truly. Mian checked them out as well, so a round of applause for her too ☆"
What inspired the new look?
- "Last time it was all about Sunshine Sylvie, so here I went for a real Moonlight Maiden vibe!"
A question about these eyeballs on your outfit: Are they all friends of yours?
- "Well, I mean...put every Eye-B together and all you end up with is one, actually. So just the one friend then, I guess? Sigh... Such is life..."
Your hairstyle seems pretty hard to pull off. How do you normally do it?
- "When I head out? Max volume all the way for sure. And yeah, styling it is a whole challenge in itself..."
How do you handle all that power of yours?
- "Oh, it’s easy. Little huff here, little puff there, and bam! Hello magnetic zippity zappity! With special guest Mr. Lightning from time to time, of course."
Did you make many friends in the previous tournament?
- "Let’s see... Mian, Kooky, the prez, and plenty of others whose contact deets I got. So yes! My Eye-Bs were very happy indeed!"
Speaking of Mian, have you spent any time with her since your last battle?
- "Absolutely! I even visited her and her family the other day. It’s a pretty big one, so I’m sure they wouldn’t mind another member (me)."
Do you still keep in touch with Kukri?
- "Oh, I blocked him into the next universe! I'll open up the gates again once he says sorry... But, uh, I’m still waiting for that to happen! No word yet!"
We hear you’re a big Athena fan. Have you been around her much?
- "She’s the best. Got her autograph during the last tournament, and also gave her mine—my very first one, mind you!"
Say you could become a pop star like Athena. What kind of music would you want to make?
- "Something that helps the listener realize they can shine in their own way. They might be all doom and gloom right now, but hey! That’s A-OK!"
Any thoughts on Team Krohnen?
- "Oh, Ángel and that Krohnen guy are all sorts of yikes. Not really the kind of peeps Kula should be around, you know?"
Are you friends with Kula?
- "I do idolize her, I suppose...and not in the same way as Athena. She’s just so cute and perfect; she’s got everything. But so do I, so yeah! It’s all good!"
Imagine teaming with any of the fighters in this tournament. Who makes the cut?
- "Oh, definitely Athena. Positively and most definitely! Apart from her, hmm... Yeah, that new friend I made the other day? She’s amazing."
How about rivals? Who would you like to square off against?
- "...KOOKY! [Death stare]"
Imagine a battle between one gigantic Sylvie and a hundred tiny ones. Who wins?
- "Wow, talk about crazy epic fantasy... I guess the Little Sylvie Legion would make for a cuter, happier time!"
What sort of ice cream do you like?
- "Multicolored triple scoops! Real ones, toy ones, anything. I scream for it all."
Who do you want on the cover of THE KING OF FIGHTERS for GIRLS Monthly?
- "Want," in the sense that it’d never happen otherwise? ...Kyo and Iori at the same time, I suppose! A mega shoot like that would mean a mega shelf price, huh?"
It says your hobby is collecting the fingerprints of good-looking men. Are you still getting your fill, now that the tournament is underway?
- "It’s all in the timing, if you know what I mean. Nothing like the prints from a knockout (and knocked out) prince!
Any messages for your fans out there wanting to cosplay as you?
- "Do it, do it! By all means! No need to worry so much about how good the outfit is, either; focus more on your actual desire to become Sylvie instead."
Do you eat your favorite foods at the beginning of the meal or the end?
- "Both! Small bite at the start for a sample of sweet joy, the rest at the end for that final punch of pure bliss. Such is the way of the foodie!"
Do you have any specific tips for preventing electrical discharge?
- "Living an appliance-free life, for starters. Not that I’m one to talk, though; no gadgets, no life!"
Why do you have a megaphone?
- "To make sure you hear me loud and clear. So... am I loud and clear? Over!"
We received a ton of questions for you this time around. Is there anything you want to say to your fans, who’ve been waiting for you so long?
- "The Sylvie Show’s just getting started. I’ll do my best to ensure you see me shine even more, so strap in for super energetic, super electromagnetic excitement! In 3, 2...1!"
Najd[]
Congrats on joining the tournament!
- "Thank you kindly. This is my first ever interview, so I must say I’m quite nervous."
You’re here by special invitation this time around. Are there any things you hope to achieve by going solo?
- Hmm... Well, since it’s a tournament, I suppose aiming for first place would be one. The same goes for the other entrants, right?
Speaking of entrants, are you acquainted with any?
- "Not at all, actually. A few here and there that I myself know of, if that counts. I imagine competing with actual companions would be quite enjoyable, though, so would definitely like to try one day—given the chance."
Imagine teaming with any of the fighters in this tournament, then. Who makes the cut?
- "I’d prefer it to be someone noble-minded, with their own beliefs and values. Then again, something tells me there’s a lot of people like that, so it’s tough to name names! But since we’re around the same age... Chizuru Kagura, for starters. Elisabeth Blanctorche would be good too."
Is there anyone out there you’d call a rival?
- "Kim Kaphwan. He’s a good man, of course, but I do believe I need to enlighten him about what justice is—and what it should be."
In your eyes, what does placing an importance on “adequate etiquette” involve?
- "Not harboring thoughts or emotions that put others down. It’s honestly something I need to work on, though... I’ve still got a long way to go."
Do you know Dolores and Kukri?
- "Only that they might be familiar with what I’m pursuing. Not to say they themselves know anything directly, though."
Your profile says that you cherish your cosmetics. What do you like the most in that regard?
- "As in favorites? Hmm, I’ve got plenty of those... I will say I’m quite particular about lipstick, though. Been buying a lot of matte recently. But if I had to narrow it down, I suppose it’d be the... Oh, I’m guessing you mean one favorite, yes? In that case, I... Actually, you know what, can we come back to this one?"
Next question, then. Is there anywhere you’d like to visit during the tournament?
- "I’m quite looking forward to stopping by all the different countries while it’s underway. The matches are important, yes, but I also want to experience each country’s culture. Oh, and theme parks too..."
How did you learn umbrakinesis—your ability to manipulate shadows?
- "With this abaya I have on. It’s what granted me these powers in the first place. I guess you could call it the fruit of my labor; it needs very special training and a certain level of performance just to be able to keep on."
Is it hard to keep that power under control?
- "Possibly—for someone with little experience or who doesn’t know what they’re doing. Luckily that’s not the kind of person who normally wears this sort of thing, so no need to worry!"
Your shadow seems to have a life of its own. Do you have a name for it?
- "I call it Aila. It’s like my very own spirit guardian."
I hear you’re in college. What do you normally talk about with your friends there?
- "Oh, just the latest makeup trends and things like that. We go window-shopping as well, I guess. Hmm... Doesn’t sound all that interesting, does it... Maybe I should touch on something a little more meaningful with them next time... Emotional attachments and human relationships and the like?"
Which KOF competitors would you like to be friends with? Does anyone come to mind?
- "Well, I do hope I at least get a chance to chat with Luong. I’ve been wanting to carry myself more like an adult lately—be more mature—and she definitely checks both boxes, you know? Just looking at her reminds me of how much I can still grow..."
What are you majoring in at college?
- "Archeology. I’m quite interested in folklore, ancient writings... Those sorts of things."
You must be snowed under with everything you’ve got going on. Do you have enough credits to graduate?
- "Oh, of course. There’s no way I’d let my responsibilities as a student fall by the wayside just because of this packed schedule!"
What sort of plans do you have for yourself after graduation?
- "I know what I have to do—it’s already set in stone—and I’m incredibly proud of it. Still, if I could choose anything, I’d want to take a deeper dive into old folklore from around the globe."
How do you spend your free time?
- "If it’s just me? Drop by some bookstores, watch videos about beauty and style... Not really sure what the correct way to go about beauty is, so I end up checking out a bunch of different channels."
Apparently you read manga. What are you normally into?
- "Anything with ninja. Or stories about superheroes and their superpowers. I also read novels, but the visual element to manga makes it easy to get what’s happening even when you’re from a different culture."
Do you have a favorite animal, or any pets?
- "A little too busy to have pets, unfortunately. I do love animals, though. No favorites, really; I just like watching creatures roam free in their natural habitat. Video sharing sites help a lot in that respect. Feels wonderful to be able to see all kinds of fauna from around the world."
Which do you prefer: sweet or spicy?
- "Out of those two? I might have to go with sweet. I’m a big fan of dried fruits."
Are you good at cooking?
- "I can whip something up if I have the recipe in front of me, sure. But planning out a meal using stuff lying around in the fridge? Not so much. Hats off to people who can manage, though."
One of your more fervent fans has requested that you “step” on them.
- "Oh? ...I suppose that’s one kind of reaction you get when the whole world’s watching. Well, let’s just say this: I do what I can to stamp out injustice whenever it appears. (That’s not an invitation, by the way!)"
We received a ton of questions for you this time around. Is there anything you want to say to your fans, who’ve been waiting for you so long?
- "Thank you so much for all the interest! There’s not a whole lot I can really say about myself, but I feel like I answered to the best of my ability. Hopefully there’ll be more people cheering me on out there because of it. Hopefully!"
Duo Lon[]
Congrats on joining the tournament!
- "Thank you. I’ll fight like my life depended on it."
What first brought you to the world of KOF?
- "An acquaintance of mine was set to participate, so I followed suit. I see no need in saying who."
You’re here by special invitation this time around. How do you feel about that?
- "Alone or in a team, it doesn’t matter to me. I’m just here to do what needs to be done."
Are there any things you hope to achieve by going solo here?
- "Suffice to say there’s someone I need to give a piece of my mind to."
What are your thoughts about KOF first-timers Isla, Dolores, and Ash?
- "Well, Ash is... Actually, never mind. All of them seem to have their own unique fighting styles, but I feel they’ve still got a long way to go."
Who, if any, would you most like to team up with during this tournament?
- "Hmm. I suppose it’d be too uninspired to pick a former teammate... In that case, I must say I am intrigued by Kyo Kusanagi. Nikaido talks about him a lot."
You’re referring to Benimaru Nikaido, yes? While we’re on that topic, any messages for him or your other old teammate Elisabeth Blanctorche?
- "Well, just that you won’t see me holding back if we ever meet in the arena."
How did you feel about Benimaru when you teamed with him?
- "To me he seemed like just another womanizer. I later realized he’s actually quite strong-willed and resolute. Kind of like Shen."
Speaking of Shen Woo, you’ve been both allies and rivals to each other in KOF so far. Which will it be this time?
- "Whichever makes sense. If there’s a reason to join forces—or, conversely, face off against each other—then that’s what will happen. I will say this, though: it certainly is easy to be around someone as affable as him."
Do you still see him every now and then?
- "We fell out of touch for quite a while, but that’s changed recently."
How’s your relationship with Lin?
- "He’s a close friend—like a brother to me. Once I accomplish my goals, no doubt we’ll have stories to share back at the village."
Did you find who you were looking for?
- "Not yet. But I certainly will."
Have you ever thought about teaming with your fellow clan members?
- "That could be interesting. No one would be able to stand in our way if so.
You say you enjoy hunting for unidentified organisms. Tell us more about that.
- "It’s surprisingly fun, you know, seeking out things that may or may not exist. If vampires are indeed real, for example, I’d certainly love to meet one."
How do you stretch your limbs like that?
- "Back at the village much time is devoted to the study of various skills and techniques. If you became one of us, I imagine you’d learn too."
Who would you like to talk to during this tournament?
- "Maxima. He has a knack for gathering information."
How do you take care of your hair?
- "Xiao Lon—my younger sister—used to comb it out for me when we were children. Now I just try to copy how she did it."
How long does it take to do it up like that?
- "I’m fairly good with my hands, but even then a good long while. It really makes me realize how much I truly depended on her."
Are you particular about fashion at all?
- "I do go for garments that blend well into the darkness. They’re embroidered by a respected craftsman from my village."
We received a ton of questions for you this time around. Is there anything you want to say to your fans, who’ve been waiting for you so long?
- "Shen and the others always tell me I’m something of a bore. I thought carefully about my answers today, so let’s see if that perception changes."
Hinako Shijo[]
Congrats on joining the tournament!
- "Thank you kindly! I’m delighted to be here once again!"
It seems you were trying to start a school sumo club around the time of your first KOF. How did that go?
- "Ah, yes. The school board gave its blessing in the end, and our member count slowly grew from there. I’m quite happy with how things turned out. We’re always looking for new recruits, though, so if anybody is interested, please don’t hesitate to join!"
Congratulations on that. You’re club president, then, I presume?
- "That’s right. I may be a little wet behind the ears, but I’m doing my best."
What has your training regimen been like since your last KOF outing?
- "Oh, nothing special in particular. Just focusing on improving what I do in my day-to-day—to make things even more impactful!"
I see. And how do you manage to balance that training with regular student life?
- "It’s all a matter of properly separating academic study time from sumo time. No seesawing in between. Can’t very well be exerting myself physically if I’ve already taken a bath and am ready to hit the books, now, can I?"
Speaking of physicality... Why do you tape up your fingers like that?
- "To prevent wrist injuries, and to also make sure I don’t inadvertently scratch my opponents. Take care not to injure yourself out there, everyone. Safety first!"
What made you want to become a sumo wrestler in the first place?
- "Hmm, sometimes I even wonder myself... Perhaps because it felt like sumo was my life. It was my everything; it consumed me."
Have you ever had a chance to wrestle any of your fellow KOF competitors?
- "I did have a few sparring sessions with Daimon and Chang Koehan after the last tournament. Wonder if there’s anyone here who’d be willing to lock up?"
Which fighters this year, if any, would you like to see step into a sumo ring?
- "All of them, if possible... But if I had to choose one, then Shingo Yabuki. He’s still a student like myself, but I think he would be a natural. I sense a real spark in him."
Do you still keep in touch with any of your past team members?
- "Oh yes. We sometimes have tea together. I also invite them to sumo practice, but unfortunately their schedules never seem to work well with mine. Pity..."
What do you think about the other female competitors here?
- "No doubt they’re “tough as nails,” as they say, if they’re competing in KOF. I would love to go toe to toe with them!"
Imagine teaming with any of the fighters in this tournament. Who makes the cut?
- "Well, Ryo Sakazaki for one. We could have our very own Team Sumo! Chang Koehan would be another good pick... Oh, is he not participating?"
What about the other end of the spectrum? Who are you most looking forward to facing here?
- "Goodness, that’s a tough one. Each fighter certainly has their own unique appeal, after all... Elisabeth Blanctorche does come to mind, though. I hear she’s a proficient horseback rider, so her upper body strength must be leagues above..."
Athena Asamiya, Mai Shiranui, and Yuri Sakazaki are competing together as Team Super Heroine this time, but obviously they’re also former teammates of yours. Any messages for them?
- "Please do your best, everyone—I know I certainly will. Here’s hoping we can fight side by side next time!"
Switching things up a bit with this next one. What sort of foods do you like?
- "Chankonabe ranks right up there, of course. I often put in requests to the kitchen for it personally. Oh, and I have a sweet tooth as well—whenever there’s cake around I can hardly resist."
While we’re on the topic of favorites... Word is you enjoy making herbal products by hand. Can you tell us a little more about that?
- "I often find myself making lavender potpourri in particular. Not only does it have a wonderful fragrance, but it’s also a fantastic insect repellent!"
Your profile says that you’re not too fond of piano practice. Why is that?
- "Ah. It’s just that I would prefer to spend that time on sumo instead."
We’ve already talked a little about the past. What about the opposite, Hinako? What are your dreams for the future?
- "To establish sumo clubs all over the world—so that everyone can get a feel for how wonderful the sport is. Wouldn't that be grand?"
Just on that subject of community, one of your fans has this message for you: “Gottsuan-desu!”
- "Goodness! Interest in sumo certainly does reach far and wide—even overseas! I’m touched!"
We received a ton of questions for you this time around. Is there anything you want to say to your fans, who’ve been waiting for your return for so long?
- "Thank you, everyone. I’ll keep pushing forward in an effort to make the wonderful sport of sumo as interesting—and exciting—as I can for you all!"
Trivia[]
- The concepts of the interviews are very similar to the interviews published on the magazine Neo Geo Freak 1998. In it, interviews with the characters of KOF '98 were published (in Japanese).
- Re Verse, Otoma=Raga, Omega Rugal and Goenitz are the only characters who do not have character interviews.
- In addition, the Awakened Orochi Team is the only team whose members do not have character interviews due to having no relevance into the canonical story of the game, being an alternative version of the Orochi Team's story.
- Unlike most of the cast, the single entry characters released from the Season 2 Fighters Pass does not follow most of the typical questions Bellamy asks. Most of the questions were requested by SNK fans on Twitter. These characters have the most questions asked during a character Interview.
