- This is the only game of the series with the maximum number of 7 rounds (due to his system allows matches with 4 fighters).
- This game and The King of Fighters XIII are the only games of the mainline series which the life bars don't increase between rounds.
- In this game, it is possible choose the number of strikers (and therefore the characters to be used in the fight). With exception of Original Zero's strikers, all of them used are playable.
