  • As of this game in the series, Kyo's close standing heavy kick is revamped into a special move (his new iconic 75 Shiki Kai), and his old 88 Shiki sweep kick is now a command normal. However, he loses his original diagonal-jumping light punch attack.
  • Joe Higashi is the only character who had his Super Special Move input (Screw Upper) changed from KOF '94.
  • In the international releases of the Game Boy version of KOF '95, Heidern's name is misspelt as "Jeidern".
  • Starting from this game, the teams now can be composed with random characters.
    • However, this game and KOF '94 Re-Bout also allows the player to choose complete teams.
  • Masahiro Sakurai, the creator of the Kirby series, has cited The King of Fighters '95 as part of his inspiration for creating the Super Smash Bros. series of games, saying that an experience he had at an arcade handily defeating a novice made him want to create a fighting game that treated players of all skill levels more equally and could be fun for all players even when matched against someone less skilled.
