Description[]
The user raises their hands up to the sky, then slams them on the ground. Upon doing so, a giant geyser of wind will surround them, and slashes any opponent unfortunate enough to be near it. Stronger versions often varied with being either yellow, red (mainly for Geese) or from-purple-to-sky-blue-colored (in the case of Rock).
The shape of the geyser of wind has often changed shape throughout the series:
- A cage of claws, normally used by Geese. The size has often varied, but it has been its biggest in KOF '98 UM, and at its tallest in KOF XV.
- A forward large set of claws, which is primarily used by Nightmare Geese, but has often been often recycled for other versions of him as well, such his SvC Chaos and KOF XI incarnations, the latter being used as the LDM version of the move.
- A yellow array of laser beams around the vicinity of the user, which is so far only employed for the MAX version used by Geese in KOF '96.
- A blast of colored-wind, often employed by Geese's son, Rock Howard. Though in The King of Fighters XIV, Geese uses a stronger version of this variant that's more akin to a massive tornado, though it reverts back to its cage version in XV.
Some versions can be delayed by holding down the button used for them (mainly for Rock's version), which doesn't seem to have an effect on its damage in most games outside of 2002 Unlimited Match (only for normal Geese).
Strategy[]
In most cases, this move is an all-around fantastic anti-air option to use on reaction, boasting solid vertical range and a chunky disjointed hitbox (and in the case of the "claw" version, horizontal range as well); it is also coupled with usually having plenty of invincibility frames all in spite of its awkward-yet-iconic infamous motion input.
It also makes for excellent combo filler depending on the version and the character but is also more so a combo-ender. Geese's version usually hits OTG while Rock's can only do so in KOF XV while the buff from Deadly Rave EXT is active.
In both KOF XIV and KOF XV, Geese's version serves as his primary Climax Super Special Move, being considerably faster and more powerful than Rock's, while also being far more expensive (three stocks of the Power Gauge as opposed to just 1-2 for Rock). It still OTGs, however, making it a solid follow-up after a hard knockdown, especially in the corner.

Trivia[]
- Geese's original Raging Storm input, consisting of
(1632143), is often considered as one of the well-known and most difficult motion inputs in fighting game history. The input has often been called the Pretzel Motion by English speaking fans, and called the Raging Storm Command (レイジングストームコマンド) by Japanese fans.
- Depending on the game, a very common way to bypass this input was to perform 2 half-circle backs-into-down-forward (
/63214632143), though some games such as The King of Fighters Neowave would make the input more tight instead (to the point where it's common to accidentally perform Deadly Rave instead).
- In The King of Fighters XIV, the Raging Storm input was changed to a
input. However, unknownst to most fans, the original input can still be performed in the said game. The same holds true in KOF XV, but with the Blowback input (
) instead of both Punch buttons.
- In KOF XIV, inputting the original Raging Storm input and hitting
on the Main Menu screen activates frame data display for training mode and replays, as well as counts frames for your actions, such as moving or jumping. Antonov's voice also appears, acting as a chime to confirm the input worked.

- Depending on the game, a very common way to bypass this input was to perform 2 half-circle backs-into-down-forward (
- This move had multiple different names when originally translated in English, and likely due to Geese's various pronunciations voice lines for the move per game/installment. Several names included Raising Storm, Rising Storm and Raising a Storm.
- In 2002 Unlimited Match, the move via its KOF '96 version used by normal Geese uniquely can have one of its wind claws dissipate whenever Geese hits the opponent with it (an example is the front-most claw if it hits a foe right in front of Geese). This occurrence has not happened with any other version of this attack.
- The Raging Storm's pretzel motion has been referenced in various games;
- In the BlazBlue series, Hazama and Izanami's Astral Heat, which not only has the same input, but also seems to be an attack of a somewhat similar nature (a surrounding-cage-type of attack generated around the user), and even has the same input bypass of 2 half-circle backs-into-down-forward (

- In Street Fighter 6, the minigame Hado-Pizza revolves around the protagonist making a pizza by combining different ingredients by matching button prompts. One of the prompts involves the player performing a Raging Storm input.
