Orochi Leona (
Story[]
When Goenitz came to ask Gaidel for help to resurrect Orochi, Gaidel refused. as a revenge Goenitz activated the Riot of the Blood within Gaidel's daughter Leona leading her to murdering her family and the entire village. During the finals of the '97 tournament, the Riot of the Blood is triggered, she ended up attacking her teammates, Ralf and Clark, but she was eventually defeated. In 2003, when Orochi seal is damaged she entered the Riot of the Blood once again, badly injuring Ralf and Clark.
Appearance[]
Leona's hair turn red/dark pink. Her pupils are completely white like Orochi Iori's (though in some artworks, its appear to be glowing red or glowing yellow or green or sometimes retains as normal).
Personality[]
When Orochi's influence takes over, Leona loses control and becomes feral, attacking anyone in sight. However, starting with The King of Fighters '99, if the Orochi power is kept in check, she can maintain her usual personality even while using the Riot of the Blood. This means she can now control and access her Orochi powers, which she gradually learns to master, especially in her Super Desperation Moves (SDMs). These abilities are part of her heritage as a Hakkesshu, and they remain available to her in her normal form.
Powers[]
Leona in this state is totally drenched with Orochi's powers, which boosts her capabilities, at initially, the cost of her sanity. While this still happens if Orochi's presence is strong, she has learned over the years to establish and refine her voluntary control and utilize this power at will.
- Slashing Hands - Leona can cut or pierce with her hands.
- Cutting Aura - Leona can create a cutting aura around her hands and feet.
- Cutting Ball - Leona can create a ball of energy surrounded by several energy blades.
Fighting Style[]
Leona’s fighting style doesn’t change drastically, but when she taps into her Orochi powers, she becomes faster and more aggressive. Like Iori, her enhanced state makes her harder to control and more vulnerable to damage than her normal form.
Unlike Iori’s transformation, Leona’s Orochi state feels more wild and animalistic—she has a unique walking animation and even runs on all fours, allowing her to slip under mid-level projectiles. While Iori’s form is usually triggered by story events, Leona can sometimes enter this state at will in gameplay, though it often comes at a cost, such as sacrificing half her current health (like in The King of Fighters 2002).
In later games, normal Leona can temporarily transform into Orochi Leona to unleash powerful moves, but she keeps her sanity and control, showing her growing mastery over her Orochi powers as a Hakkesshu.

Trivia[]
- Earlier English translations for The King of Fighters series had Orochi Leona named "Wild Leona".
- In KOF2002UM, in the Japanese version, she has a different win quote (mostly visceral screaming) if Leona wins a match while transformed as Orochi Leona. In the English version, she uses her regular win quote even if she wins the match while transformed, reinforcing Leona's implied control over her own Orochi power. Curiously, this has become the norm for Leona in later appearances.
