Oboro (朧, Oboro) is an unplayable boss character who appears only in Samurai Shodown: Warriors Rage as the main antagonist.
He is voiced by Toshiya Ueda.
Story[]
Though he has a kind-looking demeanor, he was once a ninja on par with Hanzo Hattori. He was forced to leave the clan after Hanzo defeated him in a duel. Hateful during his alienation, he learned dark magic and gathered several “cursed weapons.” He devoted himself to the will of the earthly Buddha Jigen Taishi, who "protects" Ritenkyo, and spent twenty years plotting to topple the shogunate and replace it with a warrior state.
During this time, he created the "Three Blades of Domination"—also known as the Razor Trio—and trained an army of skilled amazons. He wanted to assume the will of his benefactor and establish a new nation for the martial deity. He also hoped to avenge his disgrace caused by Hanzo. He would eventually meet his demise at the hands of Haohmaru who was looking for his niece Mikoto.
Personality[]
An anarchist who hates the shogunate and the current state of Japan. He is obsessed on getting revenge on Hanzo. His smiles are a ruse for his foes; a bloodthirsty and sadistic man lies underneath.
Powers[]
- Puppetry - Oboro controls his weapons from afar, relying solely on his magic.
Fighting Style[]
Oboro wields a cursed blade and a magic sword controlled by various spirits created using the "Magical Arts of Kakkyo." As Oboro has bonded with the demons possessing these weapons, they will both feel pain should one or the other be injured despite proximity. He is the only character in the game who takes full advantage of the 3D space by letting his weapons fly everywhere. Their weak point is difficult to discern, making Oboro the hardest boss in the game. He was left unplayable due to balancing issues, but can be selected via a hack, as seen on this video.
His weapons are inscribed with stylistic eyes and designs similar to those engraved on Deku & Dekuina's and Asura's weapons.
