Marco Rodrigues was an apprentice of Ryo Sakazaki. When he became a black belt, he opened a dojo in Brazil and started teaching Kyokugenryu Karate.
Garou: Mark of the Wolves[]
To prove the might of the martial art, Marco entered the "King of Fighters: Maximum Mayhem" tournament. When he returned, he learned that all of his best students got beaten up by the local "Gym Buster" and the dojo trashed. Hearing that, he now seeks the maniac.
Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves[]
Rodrigues has relocated to the gym at Yuri Sakazaki's fitness club. With his Kyokugen signboard mysteriously stolen, he prepares for a new battle.
Confronting the Gym Buster who turned out to be Vox Reaper, Marco redeems the dojo and reclaims his signboard. The success overwhelms him and Yuri, with Ryo and Robert needing to attend to business elsewhere. Yuri follows suit, leaving Marco alone to deal with the increasingly impatient prospective students.

By the time of The King of Fighters XIV, the Sakazaki family has opened a Kyokugen BBQ restaurant with the help of Richard Meyer. Ryo, displeasing with his family attitude regarding their training, is determined to leave South Town and is accompanied Marco to train.
The King of Fighters XV[]
Having had enough of the Kyokugen business becoming stagnated with its main karate businesses over a side BBQ restaurant, despite its success, and King feels the same way, Ryo assumes Mr. Karate persona to remind, causing the Sakazaki family, including Robert to be retrained at training ground. However, to Marco's dismay, he is entrusted to look after the restaurant in their absence.
