Trivia[]
- Marco is inspired by Brazilian karateka Francisco Alves Filho, a Kyokushin master who completed the 100-man kumite multiple times. In Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, a cameo character resembling Filho appears in Yuri’s Fitness Club, Marco’s stage.
- In Western releases of Garou: Mark of the Wolves, Marco was renamed Khushnood Butt, possibly to avoid confusion with MMA fighter Ricco Rodriguez. In 2021, SNK adopted Marco Rodrigues globally, as seen in The King of Fighters XV’s Art of Fighting Team story. In the English team ending, Takuma nearly calls him Khushnood before correcting himself.
- His name uses "Rodrigues," common in Portuguese-speaking Brazil, rather than the Spanish "Rodriguez." A similar correction was made for Bandeiras Hattori, whose name was changed from the Spanish "Banderas," sparking some backlash among Brazilian fans.
- Developers note Marco as the most durable fighter in the Garou: Mark of the Wolves cast.
- Marco and Tizoc were the only Fatal Fury characters with different names across regions. In Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, Marco uses his Japanese name globally. In Garou: Mark of the Wolves, both shared the same Japanese voice actor, but in City of the Wolves, Marco has a new voice actor, while Tizoc retains his original.
- Since his debut, Marco has generated significant fan interest, with many requesting his inclusion in The King of Fighters or future Garou titles.
