Overview[]

One of SNK's big bads, as well as a notorious Boss Character, Geese is a Rushdown Character. Although Geese has had many appearances in fighting games, his gameplay has almost always stayed the same.

By the Real Bout series, Geese would gain counters, making him also a Defensive Character who capitalizes on reading opponents and catching them by surprise, and looping them into his playing zone. However, this leads him to require solid judgment without misusing a counter, otherwise he can be easily punished for picking the wrong option in a tight spot. Good reads are required to push Geese's specialized neutral-dominating kit to its fullest.
Furthermore, Geese is primarily a powerhouse, having notable damage behind much of his toolkit at the cost of mobility; several of Geese's appearances give him rather average mobility at best compared to more mobile attackers who can (stagger)-pressure him (exacerbated by Geese normally lacking meterless reversals when under pressure himself). Thus, he's heavily dependent on landing a good counter throw to condition his foes' patterns in his favor as aforementioned.
From distance and/or neutral range, his iconic Reppuken and Shippuken and their variants are solid projectiles that help with zoning and conditioning his foes into the patterns he can read with ease. His iconic Raging Storm super is also a potent anti-air reversal and punisher rolled into one, while his signature Deadly Rave becomes the crux of his damage from meter effeciency once he lands a confirm. Despite this, Geese must take care to learn how to deal with more effective projectile-based zoners than him.
Once Geese lands a knockdown in many of his appearances, his iconic Raimei Gouha Nage is present as an iconic pursuit attack that helps him cash in on extra damage, but at the cost of sacrificing further wakeup offense. His Shinkuu Nage whenever it is a command throw, and/or his Rashoumon super debuting in Real Bout 2 give him very potent tick-throw pressure whenever such moves are present in his moveset.

In The King of Fighters series, Geese has mostly stayed consistent with his moves, similarly to his Fatal Fury counterpart. He also gains many new moves exclusively for the KOF series.
His EX variant uniquely introduced in KOF 98 Ultimate Match while based a bit on his more infamous ghastly variant, is also based moreso on his Real Bout 2 version. Normal Geese is more poke-and-neutral centric, with his 96-styled Reppukens being suited as space, pressure and anti-air control tools all in one with his iconic Raging Storm being a solid reversal and Deadly Rave being a strong combo finisher or neutral punisher with meter.
EX Geese however, focuses much more on longer-distance zoning as his Reppukens and Shippukens become true projectiles once more, and a potent tick-throw cash-in with his aforementioned Rashoumon super being present. However, his Raging Storm no longer having true invincibilty frames also leads to him lacking more get-off-me tools when under pressure himself.

In Art of Fighting 2, Geese's moves were adjusted due to the Art of Fighting games having Special Moves tied to a meter. This game in particular, also debuts his Hishou Nichirin Zan, and his iconic Deadly Rave super.
