Ge-Shiki Yuri Ori (しき百合ゆり; Outer Method: Lily Snapper) is one of Iori Yagami's Command Moves in The King of Fighters series, first appearing in The King of Fighters '95.

Input
KOF '95 +
KOF '97 onwards +

Description[]

Iori leans away and kicks behind himself in midair with his following leg.

Strategy[]

Iori's infamous air kick solely used as a jumping cross-up tool, and a defining one at that. Ge-Shiki Yuri Ori's greatest tool is that it boasts a large amount of block/hitstun making it an important tool in Iori's vortex game. The deeper the kick, the more potential you have for different combos.

Ironically enough however, the Capcom vs. SNK versions of the attack have the weakest hitstun level of the other variations due to being tiered as a light kick attack.

It should also be noted that Ge-Shiki Yuri Ori's attack height varies depending on the game. In games such as KOF '98, it hits overhead, while in KOF XV, it hits mid.

Yuri Ori can also be used during backdashes, though it is not possible in all games. Doing so causes a "taco backdash", which slightly increasing the dash's distance and making you hit the ground significantly faster. However, abusing Yuri Ori backdashing can easily allow Iori to mistakenly corner himself despite it helping gain distance away from his foe.

Trivia[]

  • The Yuri Ori is often been called as the "Taco Kick" by the Fighting Game Community (mainly due to the shape Iori's legs form resembling a taco). In general, this term is used to describe any air attack that has a hitbox well behind the character, such that it can only ever hit as a cross-up, but this specific command move is by far the most common use of the term.
    • The nickname originated from the Spanish word "Tacón", referring to the heel of Iori's foot.
  • Yuri Sakazaki's own Yuri Ori (Yuri Snapper) parodies this attack with the same kind of function.
