Ge-Shiki Goufu In "Shinigami" (しきごういん死神しにがみ; lit. "Outer Method: Booming Axe Yin (God of Death)") is one of Iori Yagami's Command Moves in The King of Fighters series, first appearing in The King of Fighters '95.

Description[]

Iori steps forward for an axe kick with his leading leg, hook-reaping his foe with it for 2 hits total.

However, as of KOF XIII, the Goufu In no longer hits twice.

Strategy[]

As a notable opposite to Kyo's Goufu You in almost every way (down to the leg used, and naming style), this move unlike the said Goufu You and several other command normals, still retains its overhead properties when chained-into and even its slowness.

As a result, Iori's mixup game is somewhat hampered and reliant on conditioning due to the slowness of this attack and how it rarely is even able to properly combo even when cancelled-into from a heavy normal. Though it's likely cause of these traits that this move can be hard to see coming, and it still is cancel-able into specials regardless as a way to force Iori in through his foe's defenses if they are conditioned.

So far though in KOF XIII as EX Iori, the Goufu In has some usage in being a starter tool to cancel into HD Mode with. While in HD Mode, it also serves as a juggle extender. However as of that game, it no longer hits twice.

However, the Goufu In has been buffed KOF XV for its chained-into version, where it comes out much faster and is guaranteed to combo off of a heavy normal; it no longer can hit overhead on the said chained-into version as a trade-off.

Trivia[]

  • Likely cause of the buggy nature of EX Neo Blood, this is the only game where Iori's Goufu In only hits once while also not even moving forward on its own (and having faster startup).
    • Likewise however, the Goufu In's Capcom vs. SNK incarnation also inflicts only one hit, and is not cancel-able at all unlike previous versions.
  • Like Kyo's Goufu You, Iori's Goufu In is unlisted in the command lists in the Maximum Impact games (and it too also only inflicts a single hit in said games before KOF XIII), but is a Stylish Art starter for these sequences:
    • + +
    • + +
    • On a similar note, Iori's Stylish Art 18 ( + + ) finishes in a similar fashion as the Goufu In from Capcom vs. SNK where it involves bringing his leg from the side rather than lifting it in front of him (and also does it with his right leg instead of his left). It also new gains a feint version in Regulation 'A' done with + as the finishing input (akin to some of Kyo's feint strings with his Goufu You).
    • Unlike Kyo however, Iori has no strings that finish in the original Goufu In itself.
