Team Women Fighters (
Description[]
As the name implies, this team consists of any female characters (or heroines), either from the own series and/or other SNK franchises (particularly from the shared universe games such as Fatal Fury and Art of Fighting). In the first games of the series, the group/team consisted of King, Mai Shiranui and Yuri Sakazaki (the bartender and the Kyokugenryu student coming from Art of Fighting series and the kunoichi (term for female ninja) from the Fatal Fury series.)
This is also the team with the most formation changes, starting with The King of Fighters '96. Originally, most of its members are locals, residing and/or had multiple crisis involvements at the city of South Town, including those who are associate to the town's local fighters (such as May Lee Jinju being associated to Kim Kaphwan), until The King of Fighters '97, it introduces a member who has nothing with the town nor had past associate its locals completely, such as Chizuru Kagura, Hinako Shijo and Athena Asamiya. The 13th mainline installment is the only mainline game after the Orochi Saga with its classic formation (along with the spin-off KOF Neowave).
In most of the formations, King or Mai (the founders of the team, along with Yuri) shares the leadership, regardless of both being on the same team or not, and in all formations, one or more members of the first/original formation appears in this team. In only three games of the series (four if counting the '98 game {and its remake}, the team was lead by non-founders, being them Kasumi Todoh (in KOF '96), Chizuru Kagura (in KOF '97 and KOF '98/UM games) and Athena Asamiya (in XV). Kasumi and Chizuru leads the team during the Orochi Saga, and Athena, in the second chapter of the current saga.

Team Super Heroines[]
Team Super Heroines (スーパーヒロインチーム) is another iteration of Team Women Fighters. This team appears for the first time in King of Fighters R-1, simply as Heroines Team, and again in The King of Fighters '98 Ultimate Match under the name Neo Heroines Team (ネオヒロインチーム) as an alternative team with a secret ending illustration. It consist of the primary classic female mascots of the company, who appears in SNK-related crossovers and mainline games. This team made their official and canonical debut in The King of Fighters XV.
