Description[]
Omega Rugal emanates a red aura and strides forward menacingly, the ground trembling with every step. If he catches up to an opponent, he lifts them up by the neck, stabs his other energy-laced hand into them, and lets them fall. He concludes by stomping on his downed opponent with both feet, resulting in an explosion that deals massive damage.
Strategy[]
Dead Mount Press only appears in Boss Challenge Mode and can only be used by the CPU. Because of this, this Strategy is more about avoiding this move.
If you're even remotely close to Omega Rugal when Dead Mount Press is active, he will grab you and deal around 55% damage; almost guarantee you'll lose a character if your near half health. Not only this, while in this state, he's covered in a red aura that can reflect projectiles, so you can't zone him out. Rolling behind him or using Shatter Strike aren't options either; you'll be grabbed instantly.
Omega Rugal cannot be interrupted by normal means while in state. DO NOT -and I repeat- DO NOT use most Climax Super Special Moves against Dead Mount Press. It has extremely high amount of hyper armor, and you'll most likely get grabbed immediately before your attack can even come out. There are few moves that can dodge Dead Mount Press; Shermie's Shermie Exposition, Chris's Onslaught Mirage, King's Surprise Rose, Blue Mary's M. Dynamite Swing, Whip's Depravity Branding "Code: FA", Kukri's Goku Nessa Housairyu, B. Jenet's Aurora, Ryuji Yamazaki's Guillotine and Orochi Yashiro's Araburu Daichi can completely avoid Dead Mount Press either by going over or through Omega Rugal. Heidern's Gae Bolg, Ramón's Hyper Sonic Ramón, King of Dinosaurs' Super Zetsumetsu Hurricane, and even Omega Rugal's own Dread Fatal Wave can completely negate this (how fitting for Heidern!).
Dead Mount Press is active for four in-game seconds, with Omega Rugal taking eight thunderous footsteps for the duration. He moves pretty slowly during this move, so your best bet is to slowly walk back too. If you're in a corner when Dead Mount Press is out, either attempt to jump over it or get K.O'd if at less than half health. Be warned that he can and will use this move at the most inopportune times, such as being right next to you.
Trivia[]
- Due to Dead Mount Press unavailable to use in Normal Play (only being used by the CPU during Boss Challenge, as well as not showing up in Omega Rugal's in-game Move List), it was unnamed in The King of Fighters XV. Its name was revealed in The King of Fighters All Star, specifically for the EX XV Ω. Rugal unit.
- Prior to the name reveal, fans referred to this move as the Menacing Walk, due to Omega Rugal walking forward while doing so as well as its intimidating damage output.
- Certain moves, despite being classified as projectiles, are not reflected by Dead Mount Press. Examples include Kyo's Yami Barai projectile during Ura 1212 Shiki Yakumo, Haoh Shoukou Ken, K''s sunglasses during Chain Drive, and Ash's Thermidor.
- In addition, there are also certain Super Special Moves such as Chou Reppa Dan that are capable of halting Omega Rugal's advance, some even pushing him back slowly. But due to the invulnerability conferred by Dead Mount Press, the result will still be inevitable.
- Hacking the Boss Challenge version of Omega Rugal into regular play reveals that he is also immune to getting hit by any Super Special Move from Re Verse and Otoma=Raga.
- Using Dead Mount Press on Dead Mount Press causes both Omega Rugals to be counter hit.
