Input
Crack Counter Joudan +
Crack Counter Gedan +
Crack Counter Chuudan +

Description[]

Rock strikes a pose where he holds out his leading arm in various ways. If he is hit during this pose, he'll counter with a quick forward-flipping heel drop on the attacker.

The name and the move itself are a combination two things: the counter-based akidou arts of Rock's biological father Geese and the Crack Shoot used by his adoptive father Terry Bogard, effectively encapsulating the essence of Rock's fighting style.

Each version has different properties.

Crack Counter - Joudan CVS2
Crack Counter Joudan (クラックカウンター・上段じょうだん, "High-Level")
Crack Counter Joudan counters counters high and jumping attacks, including physical special moves. It has a new animation for it in Capcom vs. SNK 2, while its prior animation is repurposed for the middle version in the same game.
Crack Counter - Chuudan CVS2
Crack Counter Chuudan (クラックカウンター・下段ちゅうだん, "Mid-Level")
Crack Counter Joudan counters mid and overhead attacks. Only appears in Capcom vs. SNK 2, where it reuses the upper-version's prior animation.
Crack Counter - Gedan CVS2
Crack Counter Gedan (クラックカウンター・下段げだん, "Low-Level")
Crack Counter Gedan counters lows and sweep attacks. In all games outside of CvS2, Rock due to crouching, ends up flipping at a lower height to where he drop-kicks to the ground a bit. This version also tends to recover the fastest if whiffed. Rock normally leans low and inward with his leading hand while crouching for the pose, but only in CvS2, he crouches upright while holding up his following arm across his leading one.

Only in the Maximum Impact games, it can be followed up with Vaulting (ボルディング), where Rock after the heel drop, goes right into a handstand-based backflip to launch the victim back up from the ground and is done by pressing during any successful counter. However, in both The King of Fighters XIV and The King of Fighters XV, Rock's EX Crack Counter has him perform this follow-up automatically.
