Climax Super Special Moves

Shun'ei's Climax Super Special Move, Phantom Singulation, in action in KOF XV.

Climax Super Special Moves (クライマックス超必殺技（ちょうひっさつわざ）; lit. Climax Super Sure-Killing Art), shortened simply Climax(es) or Climax Moves, are powerful attacks introduced in The King of Fighters XIV. They serve as the spiritual successor to MAX2, Leader Super Special Moves and Neo Max Super Special Moves.

Overview

Unlike regular Super Special Moves, Climax Super Special Moves, as the name would imply, are much more cinematic in their execution, making use of cinematic angles to add to the hype in the heat of the moment while executing one. Additionally, not only do most of them have full-body invincibilty by default, but some of them can also be used to control a sizeable portion of the screen (such as Joe's Bakuretsu Screw Premium or Krohnen's Calamity Overdrive) or even evade attacks that would be otherwise difficult to avoid (such as Heidern's Gae Bolg or Whip's Depravity Branding, which can be used to evade the latter two attacks). Some also act as counters (notably Daimon's Kyoutendouchi or Jenet's Ennui Mademoiselle), and can still be canceled into after certain Super Special Moves as well.

Additionally, all Climax Super Special Moves consume three stocks of the Power Gauge and can be used at any given time should that requirement be met.

As of KOF XV, every Climax SSM is always performed with + . Even characters that had relatively easy inputs for their Climaxes in KOF XIV (such as the aforementioned Gae Bolg or Ángel's Ascension Time) have all had their inputs changed accordingly.

Goro Daimon	Kyoutendouchi	Timed to Opponent's attack, +	Daimon assumes a counter-stance. If it succeeds, he grabs the opponent and throws them skywards, then performs an Earth-shattering Jiraishin that sends them flying across the stage. If canceled into from Jigoku Gokuraku Otoshi, then Daimon simply goes for the aforementioned Jiraishin since the opponent is already airborne.
Iori Yagami	Kin 1218 Shiki • Yatagarasu	+	Iori briefly succumbs to the Riot of the Blood and performs a massive upward slice, eviscerating the opponent.
Mature	Iron Maiden	+	Mature flies in on the opponent, slashes through and subdues them with strings of her energy, then pulls out her mirror to (re)apply some of her lipstick. She then closes the mirror as the strings slice the opponent to pieces.
Vice	Obscura	+ While opponent is airborne	Vice snatches the opponent out of the air, smashes them on the ground, jumps up again, and then brings them back down with an Earth-shattering body slam.
Terry Bogard	Star Dunk Volcano	+	Terry performs a much more powerful Power Dunk on the opponent.
Andy Bogard	Chou • Shin • Soku • Zan-ei Ken	+ (Air OK)	Andy dashes across the screen as it fades to black, then finishes the opponent off with a devastating Zan-ei Ken.
Joe Higashi	Bakuretsu Screw Premium	+	Joe winds up and performs a screen-filling Bakuretsuken that lasts for quite a long time before he finishes the attack.
Ryo Sakazaki	Shin • Tenchi Haoh Ken	+	Ryo draws from his chakra and strikes the opponent with a quick and powerful Tenchi Haoh Ken, blasting them across the screen in the process.
Robert Garcia	Mu-Ei Senpuu Ryuu Zanshou	+	Robert kicks the opponent skyward, then delivers an airborne Gen-ei Kyaku, topping it off with a gracious flip kick to the chin.
Yuri Sakazaki	Chou! Ryuuko Ranbu	+	Yuri goes full-on Dan Hibiki and does a regular Ryuuko Ranbu, but also humiliates the opponent in the process, ending them with a much stronger Kuuga while flashing a thumbs up at the camera.
Kim Kaphwan	Zero Shiki Houou Kyaku	+	Kim winds up and then goes ballistic on the opponent with a very powerful flurry of kicks from both sides, then ends his assault with an axe kick from above.

Luong	Ben	+	Luong performs an overhead kick on the opponent, mounts them by their shoulders, snaps their neck and asks if they're satisfied.. all while she glances at the camera with a rather sensual shot of her rear.
Xanadu	The • Wisdom	+	Xanadu runs at the opponent, yells in their face, kicks them in the groin and maniacally beats on them. He stops beating on them when he sees a light; he walks toward the light, with it seemingly finishing off the opponent.
Chang Koehan	Tekkyuu Dai Ousatsu	+	Chang swings his iron ball at the opponent several times, with one lucky hit sending them flying high until they're a twinkle in the sky. As Chang admires his handiwork, the opponent lands right behind Chang, startling him.
Choi Bounge	Shin! Chouzetsu Senpuu Hien Shitotsu	+	Choi dashes at the opponent with a Senpuu Hien Shitosu, then attacks them from all directions. He then brandishes his claws as the opponent lands on the floor.
Sylvie Paula Paula	Mechahaya Reboot	+	Sylvie briefly goes haywire and seemingly shuts down on the opponent... only for her to draw on her electrokinesis and unleash a massive, concentrated ball of electricity on the opponent.
Kukri	Goku Nessa Housairyu	+	Kukri squats down and conjures up a massive mound of sand, then slides down and strikes the opponent with it.
Mian	Zesshou Shisen Enbu	+	Mian flies in with a pirouette spin, gracefully attacks the opponent in all directions as if she were dancing with them, and then changes her mask before delivering a powerful somersault on them.
Nelson	Victory Punch	+	Nelson flies in on the opponent with a flurry of punches, capping off with a very powerful uppercut delivered by his cybernetic arm.
Zarina	Yellow Cyclone	+	Zarina briefly winds up, then kicks her feet upwards to conjure a cyclone that sends the opponent flying. She then jumps up and intercepts the opponent... by sitting on them.
Bandeiras Hattori	Kage Bunshin	+	Bandeiras performs a quick series of ninja signs before using mirror images to unleash a lightning-fast barrage on the opponent from both sides. He then launches them into the air and finishes them off with an Izuna Drop.
Ramón	Hyper Sonic • Ramon	+	Ramon winds up for the kill, charges at the opponent, then performs a clothesline swing on them. He then finishes them off with a well-placed RKO out of nowhere, Randy Orton style.
Ángel	Ascension Time	+	Ángel performs an overhead kick on the opponent, then a flurry of attacks that ends in her placing the opponent's face in her cleavage, and finally a headlock throw to finish them off.
King of Dinosaurs	Tyra Mosa Dread Carno Gaoh!	+	Dinosaur performs a flying headbutt that launches the opponent. Then he follows up with another headbutt, launching them again into a full frontal charge until they hit the other side of the stage, where a symbol resembling a Dinosaur foot brandishes them.
Geese Howard	Raging Storm	+ (or + )	Geese raises his hands to the sky then unleashes a massive torrent of ki energy beneath him.
Billy Kane	Sakkon • Dai Shounetsu	+	"Are you finished? Go to hell!!" Billy plants his bo staff on the floor, then incinerates the opponent with a stream of fire.
Hein	Domination	+	Hein conjures up an orb of dark energy then uses it to pin the opponent to the floor. He then casually walks up to them, bids them farewell, and smashes their face into the floor.
Shun'ei	Demolish Dimension	+	Shun'ei performs an anti-air version of his Specter Extension before drawing on his Amplified Specter abilities to pummel the opponent into the sky, topped off with a powerful blow through them.
Meitenkun	Daimeten Hou	+	Meitenkun launches the opponent with his pillow, then follows up with a more powerful, airborne Shou Ha.
Tung Fu Rue	Kyoku • Koureishin	+	Tung performs a shoulder barge on the opponent, then kicks them upwards into the sky. A mountain-sized astral projection of Tung then finishes them off by clapping his hands on the opponent, squishing them like an ant in the process.
Athena Asamiya	Athena Explosion	+	Athena launches the opponent with a Psycho Sword, then kicks them back down into the floor and atomizes them with a gigantic Psycho Ball with a smile on her face.
Sie Kensou	Zesshou Chirinshouha	+	Kensou performs a flying kick that briefly stuns the opponent. As they're stunned, he delivers a flurry of overhead kicks, topped off with a sweep into a powerful strike enhanced via a Chokyuudan.
Chin Gentsai	Gouran Ennhou	+	Chin leans back and chugs away on his liquor, then spits it back out as a torrent of fire on the opponent.
Leona Heidern	Leona Blade	+	Leona draws on the Riot of the Blood to create a massive Grand Saber, then impales the opponent and blasts them to pieces as she bids them farewell.
Ralf Jones	Ralf Super Phalanx	+	Ralf cracks his fists, punches the tar out of the opponent with a much stronger Vulcan Punch, then delivers the mother of all haymakers at the opponent, blowing them up while Ralf walks away from the ensuing explosion.
Clark Still	Ultra Clark Buster	+	Clark grabs the opponent from above, tosses them in the air, then brings them down with an airborne Super Argentine Backbreaker, snapping them like a twig in the process.
Nakoruru	Kanto Kamui Mutsube	+	As Nakoruru draws her power, Mamahaha lifts her off the ground. Then, the two fly in on the opponent, launching them in the air before Nakoruru delivers a vicious coup de grace in the form of skewering them into the ground.
Mui Mui	Seiryutenmei	+	Mui Mui summons the Dragon Spirit within her, then performs a shoulder barge into a double thrust on the opponent, sending them flying into the dragon's mouth as they're devoured alive.
Love Heart	Senku Buster Sword	+	Love flies in with her sword at breakneck speed and cleanly slices through the opponent.
K'	Hyper Chain Drive	+	K' draws on the power of his flames and engulfs the opponent in a whirlwind of fire.
Kula Diamond	Glacier Ridge	+	Kula covers much of the stage in ice, freezes the opponent solid, then finishes them off by shattering them to pieces and also their pride with a well-placed taunt afterward.
Maxima	MX-III CIWS Launcher	+	Maxima lunges at the opponent from halfway across the screen, grabs and throws them up in the air, and then annihilates them with a much more powerful M-24 Atomic Laser.
King	Illusion Dance	+ (Air OK)	King flies in from across the screen, delivers a powerful flurry of kicks, launches the opponent upwards, kicks them some more in the air, and finishes them off with a classy kick across the face.
Mai Shiranui	Shiranui-Ryuu Ougi • Kunoichi	+ (Air OK)	Mai flies in at a diagonal angle with a Musasabi no Mai, then attacks the opponent in all directions, and finishes them off with her own take on the Izuna Drop. Nippon ichi!
Alice Nakata	Full Set Alice	+	Alice flies in with a Burn Knuckle on the opponent, then hits them with an overhead punch, and then finishes off with an overhead kick, clumsily tripping and glancing at the camera in the process.

Verse	Grudge Dimension	+	Verse lunges towards the opponent and then tosses them in the air. From there, he conjures up an entire barrage of flaming fists and decimates the opponent with them, finishing off with a Verse Ray.

Whip	Depravity Branding "Code: FA"	+	Whip uses Voodoo to swing across the stage and kick the opponent flat in the face, launching them in the air. Then she comes back around, kicks them square in the face again, uses Voodoo to grab them by their neck, and viciously slams them onto the floor.
Ryuji Yamazaki	Drill	+ Near opponent (Tap OK)	Yamazaki grabs the opponent and slams them onto the floor. From here, he has a total of four different levels (depending on how much you tap either punch button), all of which end in him drilling a hole into the opponent's chest. Level 1 has him stomp the opponent into the dirt repeatedly. Level 2 is about the same as Level 1, only with cinematic angles. Level 3 sees Yamazaki pulling out a random object from the stage (or out of hammerspace) to bash the opponent with. Level 4 has him deliver an uncontrollable barrage of Serpent Slashes.
Vanessa	Infinity Puncher	+	Vanessa winds up for the big blow and then slams the opponent with a well-placed backfist. Then she delivers a flurry of punches that disorient the opponent and goes for the killing blow - a big overhead punch to the face, while she dusts off her knuckle once more.

Oswald	JOKER	+	Oswald grabs the opponent and drags them across the other side of the stage. From there, he pulls out his Karnoffel cards and shrouds himself in darkness. Then he decimates the opponent in a barrage of razor-sharp cards, finishing them off with a Wild Card to the head.
Heidern	Gae Bolg	+	Heidern flies in with a Neck Roller from across the screen, stabs the opponent in the lower back (or their rear depending on their size) and bellows, "Go to heaven/hell!", as he turns them into a human pin cushion with his dark energy.
Najd	Scorching Fate	+	Najd conjures a demonic creature with her shadow and lunges it at the opponent. Once it hits from full-screen, she orders the shadow to consume the opponent as she judges them, all while sealing their fate as the screen fades to black.
Blue Mary	M. Dynamite Swing	+	Mary jumps up and kicks the opponent in the sternum (or groin depending on the opponent's size), grabs them, and then performs - as the name suggests - a Giant Swing and sends them flying across the stage.

Benimaru Nikaido	Raiha Jin-Ou Ken	Benimaru winds up, then delivers a very powerful, screen-filling thunderbolt at the opponent, hitting them instantly from across the screen.
Kyo Kusanagi	Ura 1212 Shiki Yakumo	Kyo sends out a full-screen Yamibarai at the opponent, stunning them in place. Then, he comes in with a well-placed 182 Shiki, and finishes them off with a flaming whirlwind as the Kusanagi family crest (the Sun) is visible at the end.
Iori Yagami	Ura 1131 Shiki Hozuki	Iori dashes across the screen, grabs the opponent in the face and slams onto the floor (which is garnished nicely by the Yasakani family's moon emblem), draws on the Riot of the Blood and incinerates them to ashes while letting out a blood-curdling scream. If performed on Chris, Shermie, or Yashiro, as well as their awakened forms, he'll forgo said power (as evidenced by his eyes remaining the same instead of turning an eerie red) and just incinerate them the same.
Chizuru Kagura	Uramen 31 Katsu Kyuusen no Jouhari	Chizuru draws on the Yata Mirror and summons an array of crystal orbs, dashes towards the opponent and stuns them, then blasts them away with said orb array.
Terry Bogard	Stardust Ignition	Terry flips his cap and points upwards. Then he Power Charges into the opponent and delivers a gratifyingly powerful Buster Wolf, turning them into a twinkle in the sky in the process.
Andy Bogard	Chou Shin Soku Zan-ei Ken	Andy dashes across the screen as it fades to black, then finishes the opponent off with a devastating Zan-ei Ken.

Elisabeth Blanctorche	Fête de la Lumière	Elisabeth launches the opponent into the sky with a powerful Coup de Vent, then shoots them out of the air with an energy bow as a the light arrow turns into a dove at the end.
Kukri	Goku Nessa Housairyu	Kukri squats down and conjures up a massive mound of sand, then slides down and strikes the opponent with it.

B. Jenet	Ennui Mademoiselle (Ready Pose)	Jenet strikes a pose and goads the opponent into attacking her. If timed properly, she gets very angry, takes off her heel, and beats the tar out of the opponent, sending them flying into the sky. She then glances at the camera and apologizes. If canceled into after another Super Special Move, she'll perform a flying kick beforehand.
Gato	Flaming Serpent's Fang	Gato performs a backwards somersault, then flies in with a Piercing Fang at the opponent, delivers a barrage of blows that ends in an uppercut, then darts across both sides of the screen whilst attacking the opponent, and finishes them off with a very graceful divekick.
Geese Howard	Raging Storm Rashomon	(Raging Storm) Geese raises his hands to the sky then unleashes a massive torrent of ki energy beneath him. Can also be performed with + . (Rashomon: + Near opponent) Geese grabs the opponent, tosses them to the sky, charges up his ki energy, and then decimates them with a well-placed blast to the stomach.

Orochi Yashiro	Shuuen no Daichi (Ready Pose)	Yashiro assumes a counter stance on startup. If it succeeds, he conjures a pillar of rocks to launch the opponent with, then violently slams them into the ground as a pillar of Gaia's energy erects from the ground. If canceled into during a combo, he performs an Unaru Daichi before the aforementioned sequence.
Orochi Shermie	Raijin no Sabaki	Shermie throws out a Yatanagi no Muchi with her leg at a diagonal angle. If it connects, the opponent is stunned in place. Orochi Chris	Hirameki Kogaretaru Tamashi	On startup, Chris rushes through the opponent, stunning them in place. He then leaps into the air and throws out a massive heatwave of purple flames, incinerating the opponent in the process with an evil smile on his face.
Haohmaru	Supreme Severing Flash	Haohmaru slashes his opponent twice, then finishes them with a slash akin to Seikouzan, only for it to erupt into a geyser seconds later.
Nakoruru	Kusnaotke Sikannatki Mutsube	Nakoruru flies towards her opponent and kicks off them. She then rushes towards them again with Mamahaha for a spinning stab, clinging onto her trusted bird once she finishes.
Darli Dagger	Perfect Storm	Darli stabs her saw sword into her opponent, then skewers them across the shoulder, then uses her drill to knock her opponent upward. She then charges her drill and finishes by drilling the falling target, imprinting a blue skull and crossbones above her.
Shingo Yabuki	Climax Shingo	Shingo lunges at the opponent with a left hook, then performs three uppercuts, sending the opponent flying. He then leaps into the sky to deliver a powerful headbutt onto their back. A climax that truly shatters all expectations.
Kim Kaphwan	Tensho Houou Kyaku	Kim winds up and then goes ballistic on the opponent with a very powerful flurry of kicks from both sides, ending with a rising kick that shows an ethereal phoenix behind him.
Sylvie Paula Paula	Electro-Magic Dopamine!	Sylvie briefly goes haywire and seemingly shuts down on the opponent... only for her to dash on her opponent with a series of fast electric attacks before firing a massive electric beam on the opponent.
Goenitz	Tokoshie no Kaze	Goenitz calls up a whirlwind that sends the opponent flying. He then conjures himself and the opponent in a massive tornado before blowing the opponent away as he laughs maniacally.
Najd	Roaring Justice	Najd releases a swirling dark beast out of a portal that knocks the opponent high, with a larger shadow chomping them. She then finishes by jumping up to chopping it in two, knocking her opponent all the way down.
Duo Lon	Mugen Juon Toubu	Duo Lon creates a barrier of spirits that surrounds him and the opponent. Then, he grabs the opponent by the face and unleashes a flurry of his spirits on the opponent, flooring them down.
Hinako Shijo	Hina Arashi	Hinako grabs her opponent for a Yorikiri, then thrusts her palms into her opponent, and finishes with a strong slam.
Mature	Evanescence	Mature rushes towards her opponent. If she connects, she claws her opponent three times to launch them, lays on the ground, then teleports out of the way as the opponent crashes down, and finishes with an overhead claw attack.
Vice	Disgrace	Vice jumps and dives down for a claw attack. If she connects, she sharply slams her opponent to the floor, catches them above her head, then cross-claws their stomach outwards.

Trivia

• Re Verse and Otoma=Raga also have Climax Super Special Moves available to them, though they rarely (if ever) use them when fought in Story Mode and remain inaccessible without modding the game to even perform them in the first place.
• So far, Geese is the only character in KOF XV to have two completely different Climaxes, as Rock's is a different version of his and his father's trademark Deadly Rave.
• Daimon, B. Jenet, and O. Yashiro are the only characters whose Climaxes are also counters. While they can be canceled into unlike most counter supers (i.e., Oni Hanmon), it can only be done either as part of a Rush Combo or after another Super Special Move.
