75 Shiki Kai (七拾五式ななじゅうごしきかい; lit. Method 75: Revise), is one of Kyo Kusanagi's Special Moves in The King of Fighters series, first as Kyo's close Neo Geo D Button attack, then appearing in The King of Fighters '95 as a Special Move.

Description[]

Kyo splits-kicks upwards with his following leg, then follows-up with a second leading-legged splits kick.

Since KOF '95 however, Kyo adds a forward jumping motion to the first kick, with the second kick being an optional followup input.

However, in some games, such as for Kyo's base version in Maximum Impact 2 and Regulation 'A', and his base version in KOF XIII, Kyo ends up automatically performing the second kick. Only for base Kyo in Maximum Impact 2 and Regulation 'A' however, he can add an additional R.E.D. Kick followup with RZ Input+ Neo Geo D Button as the second hit connects.

Strategy[]

Originally a bit of a gimmicky proximity normal in KOF '94, KOF '95 onwards has this attack become a staple corner juggle tool to maximize Kyo's offensive prowess once he manages to land a strong confirm. However, usage as an anti-air is rather limited due to the startup and how forward Kyo slides a bit before hop-kicking. Depending on the game and how high the victim was during the juggle, it's possible to follow-up with multiple lighter versions of 75 Shiki Kai in the corner.

In the Maximum Impact games, both Kyos' 75 Shiki Kais are super-cancel-able even before the debut of the midair Orochinagi. However, base Kyo's is only done after the second kick, while Classic Kyo's only registers as a real super cancel only when doing it recovering from the first kick by itself.

Trivia[]

  • So far in both Maximum Impact 2 and Regulation 'A', base-version Kyo performs both kicks quite quickly in succession with one another, done more akin to two-quick-hopping kicks as opposed to splits-kicking.
  • During the NESTS saga and in 2003 and XI, Kyo tucks his leading arm in differently during the second kick.
  • Its commonly English localized name is often overlapping with the localized name for Saisyu's 427 Shiki Kamukakari, despite the 2 moves being completely unrelated.
