212 Shiki Kototsuki You (

Description[]
The user runs at their opponent, drives their elbow into the abdomen, lift-grabs them by their neck (or for the XIV and XV versions, a face-grab), and explodes them.
While the elbow needs to connect on either hit or block to have the lift-grab come out, the lift-grab itself is a blockable hit-grab. The Yanosabi-bridge-version in the NESTS Saga games instead goes straight into the lift-grab portion which can pick up victims downed by the prior Yanosabi.
For the version introduced in KOF XIII, it forgoes the run for the immediate lifting-grab before ending it with the usual explosion. KOF XIV's
version however, acts as a standard close-ranged command throw which adds in the classic-version Hatsugane before the lifting-grab explosion.
Strategy[]
Normally a hit-grab move, it can be blocked before the elbow can hit, so the move is used normally to end combos, or enforce guard gauge reduction during blockstrings. However, the Yanosabi-bridge version in later games tends to be punishable on block, even though the lift-grab portion if blocked unlike the Kototsuki In, has some notable pushback.
The version is a 3F command grab, and thus can surprise the foe when they least expect it, making it useful as a deadly mixup option, especially in the corner.
The move also returns in both KOF XIV and XV with its prior input, and replaces the 427 Shiki Hikigane; Hikigane itself on the other hand is limited with its variant only being an Aragami branch.

Trivia[]
- In the original 1.0 Arcade version of The King of Fighters XIII, 212 Shiki Kototsuki You was an unblockable move. This was fixed in the 1.1 version.
- Only in Capcom vs. SNK (including Pro) and 2, the elbow lunge during the dash has Kyo's leading elbow emit a small bit of flame, which is not seen in any other variation of the Kototsuki You.
- The NESTS Saga version of the Kototsuki You done off of the 114 Shiki Aragami is an OTG-hitting Kototsuki variation that predates Iori's
Kototsuki In.
