101 Shiki Oboro Guruma (百壱式ひゃくひとつしき朧車おぼろくるま; Method 101: Hazy Wheel) is one of Kyo Kusanagi's Special Moves in the The King of Fighters series, first appearing in The King of Fighters '94, being discontinued in The King of Fighters '96 in place of the R.E.D. Kick, and reappearing in The King of Fighters XII - The King of Fighters XIII.

This is also used by his clone, Kyo-1.

Description[]

Kyo does a flying back kick up-forwards. When using the variant, he does a second spin kick, and hammers his opponent back down with a forward-flipping slam kick.

Only in CvS2, a MK variant exists where he only spin-kicks twice without the plummet kick.

Shingo Yabuki at times, also can perform this attack and a stronger variation of it, but he ends up forced to hop for each kick and may instead prat-fall on the final one.

Trivia[]

  • The technique takes its namesake from the youkai of the same name, being a ghost in the form of an ox cart with a face on it.
  • In the Maximum Impact games, a unique version of the version Oboro Guruma is performed at the end of one of the Stylish Art strings for both Kyo versions (+ + + ; the final input must come out quickly before the second-to-last input's punch, changing its knockdown properties to send less further if done right).
    • Like the 2 other string-based moves based on this sequence (being+ ・() x2 and+ + ), the unique Oboro Guruma finisher also inflicts no chip damage on block whatsoever.
    • So far, only Classic Kyo in Maximum Impact Regulation 'A' can feint this string with + + .
