100 Shiki Oniyaki (百式ひゃくしき鬼焼おにや; "Method 100: Ogre Baker") is a Special Move that is shared with several characters in The King of Fighters series.

Input
All mainline appearances + or ( OK)

Description[]

The user executes a jumping spin, surrounded by flames let loose from their arms in a spiral. While the flames have been let loose via a jumping spread in many games, some games such as CvS1 and CvS2 caused the released flames to spiral-upwards on their own akin to a tornado motion.

Kyo and Iori perform the attack by extending both of their arms--Kyo (and his clones) by clenching his fists and Iori leaving his hands open. Saisyu only uses one arm to execute the attack in more of an uppercutting motion.

Strategy[]

Like many dragon punch-styled anti-airs, this move does its job quite well though with the hitboxes being more geared towards hitting in front of the user instead of directly above them.

However, stronger button versions of the attack tend to deal extra hits, usually up to 3 or 5, which can benefit from being super or MAX Mode-cancelled early on the initial grounded hits in many cases as a combo extender. Even then, if the foe is spaced too much from the user, then early non-knockdown hits that connect may cause the victim to suffer pushback that leaves them out of range for the rest of the hits, and thus leaving the user vulnerable to a counter.

In Kyo's case, his version is famous for having early autoguard frames as he starts initially with an elbow bash before leaving the ground.

Trivia[]

  • Iori's version especially based on his KOF 2003 appearance and voice lines, is known for having his growl be distorted with a demonic tone, unlike the other variations so far.
